Literally turn trash into treasure on Saturday, February 15th with our Beach Plastics Collage Workshop!
A 2015 study by UC Santa Barbara’s NCEAS, found that 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year. That's like 5 grocery bags filled with plastic trash lining every foot of coastline around the world. We invite you to be part of the solution!
Show the planet a little love this Valentine's Day (well, the day after...), by joining Recontained on Saturday, February 15th, as we take part in Heal the Bay's Nothin' But Sand Beach Cleanup. The cleanup will take place from 10am - 12 noon at Torrance Beach (201 Paseo de la Playa, Torrance, CA 90277 // Tower Playa Area). While you're helping clean our coastline, you'll also be hunting for small, beautifully colored plastic pieces that can be rinsed off & used for your masterpiece! You will be amazed at the color & variety of what you find.
Once we wrap up the Beach Cleanup, head over to These Hands Maker's Collective for our Beach Plastics Collage Workshop from 1:30 - 4pm. After we get everything rinsed off, we'll walk you through how to organize your materials, find inspiration, & execute an absolutely beautiful art piece... all from plastic pollution! Shadow box & tools to be provided, as well as snacks & beverages.
